Sendai virus based direct cardiac reprogramming: what lies ahead?
Abstract
Affecting over 38 million people worldwide, heart failure remains an immense challenge in health care (1). The pathology of heart failure involves death or dysfunction of cardiomyocytes and replacement with non-contractile scar tissue since the adult human heart lacks endogenous repair mechanisms to fully restore cardiac function after injury such as a myocardial infarction (MI).
